Baby names

One of our main conversations in the house is baby names. We find out via ultrasound on March 8th what the sex is so names have been coming up. Luke is learning how to sound out words so he said I am going to find the baby a name. He picks up a very basic reading book and starts sounding out words. After each sound out he would decided if he liked it or not. If not he went to the next word. If he liked it he would ask Graham. If graham didn't like it, he ok I will find another. If Graham did like it, it was almost as if that was the name because they agreed on it. So this is an example.

Luke: "j-o-n". Jon. Don't like it.
Luke: "h-a-s". Has. I like it. Graham what do you think?
Graham: I no like it.
Luke: "t-w-o" two. I like it. Graham?
Graham: nope
Luke: "c-a-r-s". I don't like it.
Luke: "h-o-p". Hop. I like it.
Graham: me to.
Boys: let's name the baby hop!!

Graham

I think of Graham as a pretty unusual name. It is popular in England but not in the states, until today. We received the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and I was just looking through it and came across this picture. They seem to have the top names or popular names that they display on their bags or blankets or whatever. So now there will probably be a thousand Graham's born because they liked it in Pottery Barn. However ours will always be the first!!

Chipwrecked

Joe took Luke and Graham to see the Alvin and the chipmunks movie today. They had a great time! And it was conveniently located by a great wing place, so wings came home for the super bowl!! Way to go Giants!!

Harmonica playing

It was one of those when as parents you can't wait for bedtime. Everyone had runny noses and coughs and the house is littered with used Kleenex or used sleeves! Everyone should have had 2 naps instead of the hr and a half nap 2/3 had. So when it was bedtime we assumed they would be out! Well not one! The other 2 are out like lights. The middle one is up there talking to himself, singing songs, and playing his harmonica that Grandpa Meier got him for Christmas. Hearing it over the monitor just makes you laugh. He is such a sweet, tender hearted kid. I don't know if you can appreciate the harmonica in the picture that he is blowing into, but he was playing he a tune! Night night Graham!

Groundhog Day

It is Groundhog Day today. Luke is snack person this week at preschool so I was trying to come up with a fun snack for the groundhog fans. I saw many with like pudding cups w a cookie (groundhog) coming out of it. I however opted for the complicated dessert of a chocolate covered banana groundhog and some food that it eats: berries, sticks (pretzels), nuts, and mushrooms (marshmallows). So last night after getting home at 9 from working extra late I started my banana project. I have never done chocolate covered anything. So the first few were a disaster as the chocolate dried before I could get ears or sprinkles on it. So I finally got the hang of it but had one of my rejects out the whole time and noticed it just turned into a mushy banana. I for one don't like bananas and mushy bananas just gross me out, so it is 1130 and I have no other options as we don't have any pudding in the house. So I just have to go with it and know if the bananas are bad at least there is fruit!!
